What We Don’t Treat
While our clinicians can evaluate and treat many common concerns, some issues require in-person or emergency care. Please go to an emergency room or call 911 if you experience any of the following:
- + Traumatic brain or spinal cord injury*
- + Vomiting or coughing up blood
- + Loss of consciousness or fainting
- + Severe burns
- + Chest pain and/or numbness
- + Deep cuts or lacerations
- + Broken bones or suspected fractures
- + Ear infections**
Our providers are also not able to prescribe medications that are classified as controlled substances (for example, codeine or oxycodone). If you need treatment that involves a controlled substance, please see a local in-person provider.
*This limitation applies to the immediate period following a spinal cord or traumatic brain injury, which may require in-person emergency or trauma care. People with a prior history of traumatic brain or spinal cord injury who have non-emergent needs may still be appropriate for virtual visits.
Important Information for Virtual Urgent Care
Controlled‑substances policy: Our providers cannot prescribe controlled substances (such as codeine or oxycodone). If you require treatment involving a controlled medication, please see a local in‑person provider.
Consult modality: All virtual urgent‑care visits occur via secure video with a board‑certified doctor or nurse practitioner. Please ensure you have a stable internet connection and a device with a camera before your appointment.
Identity verification: Before you connect with a provider, you will need to upload a government‑issued photo ID and complete a short pre‑visit medical history form. This allows your clinician to review your information in advance and ensures a smooth telehealth visit.

Frequently Asked Questions about Virtual Urgent Care
Yes. Many urgent care centers now provide virtual visits for non-emergency issues. With virtual urgent care, you can connect with a board-certified doctor or nurse practitioner from home for concerns like cold and flu symptoms, minor infections, allergies, rashes, and more.
During your visit, the clinician can evaluate your symptoms, give treatment recommendations, and when appropriate, send prescriptions to a local pharmacy. Insurance is often accepted, but self-pay options are usually available as well.
In many cases, yes. Virtual urgent care clinicians can prescribe antibiotics when they determine it is medically appropriate. During your online visit, the provider reviews your symptoms, medical history, and any risk factors to decide whether an antibiotic is needed.
If a prescription is indicated, it can be sent electronically to the pharmacy you choose so you can pick it up as soon as it is ready.
Virtual urgent care can often be used to evaluate and treat ear infections. During your visit, a board-certified provider will ask about your symptoms, review your medical history, and may guide you through a brief self-exam.
Based on this assessment, the clinician can recommend appropriate treatment. When needed, they may prescribe antibiotics or pain relievers and provide detailed instructions for caring for your ear at home.
Many virtual urgent care services offer access to clinicians 24 hours a day, every day of the year. As long as you have a smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet access, you can typically register and see a provider from almost anywhere.
Virtual urgent care is designed for non-emergency issues such as rashes, cough, fever, COVID or flu symptoms, urinary tract infections, and similar concerns. If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room instead.
Many insurance plans are accepted, but you can usually be seen without insurance, and visit costs are displayed before you finalize your appointment. For self-pay patients, urgent care visits commonly start around $99.
Creating an account for virtual care is typically free, and there is no monthly membership fee. You pay per visit when you meet with a board-certified clinician. If you use insurance or employer benefits, the amount you owe will depend on your specific plan, and in many cases your cost may be $0.
It’s important to enter your insurance and employer information when you register so that your benefits can be applied correctly. All visit costs are shown before you schedule.

- Everyday & Urgent Care: about $99 for a 15-minute visit
- Psychology: about $134 for a 25-minute visit, or $184 for a 50-minute visit
- Psychiatry: about $299 for an initial 45-minute visit, and $129 for a 15-minute follow-up
Before your appointment ends, you may have the option to extend the visit for an additional fee. For the most current information about pricing and insurance coverage, always refer to the service’s Cost & Insurance page.
